One of the greatest sports games ever made, besides Rocket League, Mario Super Sluggers has been apart of many great memories of mine. I have played with hundreds of different teams, and I have played against just as many teams. Here is my favorite team to play with and quite possible the best team possible.
Pitcher – Donkey Kong
Catcher – Blooper/Hammer Bro
First – Dark Dry Bones
Second – Petey Piranha
Third – Funky Kong
Short – Diddy Kong
Left – Boomerang Bro
Center – Bowser Jr.
Right – Bowser
Right away this Lineup has a lot of heavy hitters and big names, but what is up with slow man Bowser in the outfield? This is my ideal team. This outfield normally plays well in smaller ballparks. Really it just doesn’t play well at the Ice Palace. Luckily with the game mechanics, speed doesn’t matter too much in the field. By the way, Bowser has a CANNON for an arm. We put him in right with Dark Dry Bones at first for chemistry matching and you have a threat to be thrown out on all would-be-singles to right field. The rest of the outfield fills out with chemistry related players for homerun robbery, with the speedy Bowser Jr. manning center field. I personally like Boomerang Bro the best, but choose whichever bro is your favorite for Left Field.
On the bump we got the goat of Donkey Kong. My friends and I typically play “no moving the pitches” because we like the offence. If you can move the pitch Donkey Kong can get a grounder by righties nearly every at bat. He’s a dominate force on the mound and hits nukes at the plate. Behind him in the infield we have Funky Kong at third, for his bat, Diddy Kong at shortstop for chemistry and good fielding, the GOAT second baseman, Petey Piranha, and Dark Dry Bones at First Base. I go back and forth on catcher deepening on the day. I will typically lean Blooper so that Petey Piranha has some item help in the lineup, but if you want to see Bowser throw some frozen ropes to the plate, put Hammer Bro back there.
Since I normally only use Blooper, I will make a lineup with him in it instead of Hammer Bro.

Depending on how well you hit with certain batters this lineup can be reconstructed. It is created in blocks; 1-4, 5-7, and 8-9. These can be rearranged based on your skill with each group. This lineup is tough and has power every other batter. Dark Dry Bones has sneaky pop at the top, Bowser can homer every at bat, Boomerang Bro is a pure hitter, Bowser Jr. resets the table, Donkey Kong aims for the fences. Funky Kong “yo-yo-yo’s” his way on base, Diddy Kong is a slap hit master, then the menace Petey clears the bases , Blooper hits a little oppo slap hit, and we’re back to the top to do it again.
With this team I feel like I can win every single match, of course when we pick team I rarely ever get this team because it is too good. Next time you are reminiscing with this game, give this team a try and let me know how it goes.
