As fantasy drafts are starting to happen around the world, I think its a great time come out with my bold predictions for the 2026 Fantasy Football year. Following these predictions could help you win your league! Or make you finish in last places, its a tough call. There is a reason these are bold predictions. Here are my 10 bold predictions for this year.
The #1 overall running back will be… Omarion Hampton.
Currently ranked as the 12th ranked running back in ESPN. He is situated perfectly in what should be a high powered Charger’s offense. Mike McDaniel should make this the number one offense. Being on the number one offense gives Hampton a higher chance at finishing number one. He will get plenty of goal line work and should be featured heavily out of the backfield. We saw McDaniel in Miami draw up plays specifically for Achane out of the backfield. I expect he will do similar things in Los Angeles. Hampton is not the receiver that Achane is, but he just needs a couple of catches a game to help get his offensive numbers over the top.
A surprising top ten running back will be… Kenny Gainwell.
We saw last year in a pretty mediocre Steeler’s offense that Gainwell can be explosive in the passing game. The Bucs lost a lot this off-season but I still believe in what Baker Mayfield can do. Rachaad White had filled the role of the receiving back the last few years in Tampa, but with him gone that role will fall to Gainwell. With the inconsistent health of Bucky Irving there may be stretches where Gainwell gets to take over the number one spot in the Bucs offense. Last year with the Steelers he was very productive in those situations. Gainwell will get enough volume and do enough with it to sneak his way into the top ten.
The #1 overall wide receiver will be… Justin Jefferson.
This is definitely less of a bold prediction than the others on this list. I wanted to take a deep sleeper to be the #1 receiver, but I just can’t get over this gut feeling on Jefferson. He is currently ranked 6th by ESPN. We have seen him put up stupid numbers with bad quarterbacks in the past. Now, he gets to play with Kyler Murray, who isn’t the best passer that he has played with, but is a huge step up from what he is used to. Murray has had an elite receiver before with Hopkins in Arizona. He knows how to throw the deep ball, and his ability to scramble and keep a play alive will serve wonders for Jefferson. If you give Jefferson 5+ seconds to get open, he is going to be open. With the receiving core that the Vikings have assembled it will be difficult for teams to double him as well. They will have to guard, Jefferson, Addison, Jennings, and Hockenson to guard. The combination of one-on-one coverage, the deep ball ability, and the scramble ability will lead to Jefferson being the #1 wide receiver this year.
A surprising top ten wide receiver will be… Caleb Douglas.
The wide receiver talent in the NFL is sky high right now. With many teams having two receivers who could be a number one receiver if needed. Even with all of that talent across the league I am going to a team that may be competing for worst record, the Miami Dolphins. They drafted Caleb Douglas in the third round of this past draft. He has looked great in camp and is a speedy receiver. The Dolphins will be losing a lot of games and need to pass a lot. We have seen Malik Willis evolve as a passer the last few years and I think he will treat Douglas as a true number one. The touchdown numbers may not be there for Douglas, but the amount of catches he will have mixed with his breakaway speed for YAC will be enough for him to sneak into the top ten list.
A surprising top five tight end will be… Terrance Ferguson.
Another year goes by and the Rams get another year older, mainly looking at Davante Adams. He was the Redzone target for Stafford last year. Adams is still going to get his one-on-one opportunities in the Redzone, but last year a young tight end, Terrance Ferguson, started to establish himself as the tight end of the future in Los Angeles. We saw him have multiple two touchdown games last year, and I think his role increases this year. He may not finish top 5 in catches for tight ends, but I think a high percentage of his catches will end up in the endzone. This will allow him to finish as a top tight end this year.
Two teams will have a top ten quarterback, running back, wide receiver, and tight end… Bills and Lions.
I didn’t look into the data on how often a team can sustain a top ten quarterback, running back, wide receiver, and tight end, but it feels like it doesn’t happen too often. The Bills and Lions look to be in the perfect positions to get it done this year. Lets start with the Bills. They will have Josh Allen and James Cook who will be firmly in the top ten. This year they have DJ Moore to help bolster their receiving room. He should get the volume needed to be a top ten receiver. My concern is his touchdown numbers, since the Bills have Allen and Cook for the redzone. At the tight end position, I think Kincaid finally stays healthy and takes a leap this year. He will be the Redzone target for Allen when they decide to pass, and his athleticism will allow him to be a weapon every where on the field. Now on to the Lions. We have seen in recent years it is hard for a non-running quarterback to be a top fantasy option. Goff does not care. He is consistently a great fantasy quarterback and will make his way into the top ten. Gibbs and Amon-ra are easy picks to finish top ten at their respective positions. That just leaves tight end. When Sam LaPorta is healthy, he easily clears the top ten. As of right now, he is dealing with some injuries that put his week 1 status in jeopardy. I feel confident that it is just precautionary, making sure he is ready for the rest of the season. If LaPorta gets 14+ games in he will easily be a top ten tight end.
The Cowboys will have two top five wide receivers… CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens.
Without George Pickens, CeeDee Lamb is easily a top 5 receiver. Without CeeDee Lamb last year, Pickens was a top 5 receiver. The question becomes can they both get enough volume to work their way into that top 5 position. I believe they can. The Cowboys defense isn’t going to do them many favors, they are going to be throwing the ball a decent bit in the back half of games. This will allow Pickens and Lamb to both have 5+ catches a game with 70+ yards. This gives them a good baseline and then they will each have a few explosive games, allowing them to work their way into the top
A surprising top three quarterback will be… Kyler Murray.
Kyler Murray is in the perfect position to succeed in Minnesota. We say what they were able to do for Sam Darnold just a few years ago. Murray is by far a better fantasy player than Darnold. He will not have three wide receiver weapons, a reliable tight end, and some okay running back options. The coaching staff for the Vikings know how to draw up plays for their quarterback. Murray is going to be given a proper chance to succeed, and he will prosper. He will get his handful of rushing touchdowns for the year, pass for 25+ touchdowns, throw for 3500+ yards, and limit his turnovers. Put all of that together and you get a top three fantasy quarterback.
A surprising top ten quarterback will be… Malik Willis.
We are dipping back into the Dolphins well with this pick. For some of the same reason I think Douglas will end up as a top ten receiver, I think Malik will finish as a top ten quarterback. He will be in a position where the dolphins will have to pass late in games. He has the ability to take off and run as well if a play blows up. I think his running game will be the main reason he sneaks into the top ten. He will have lots of busted plays where he just has to escape the pocket and run. We saw him do pretty good things in Green Bay when needed, now the Dolphins will be asking for a lot. The increased volume and trust in him will result in a solid fantasy season, even if his actual season is just mid.
Two late round league winners will be… Isiah Pacheco and Mike Washington jr.
Truth be told, this was originally going to be a ‘one late round league winner to target’ category, but I had to include both players here. First lets talk about Mike Washington Jr. Mike is the backup for Ashton Jeanty. We just saw Jeanty suffered a potential ankle sprain after an awkward fall, opening up the pathway for Washington to get more carries. This isn’t just a pick for ‘if Jeanty is injured’, Washington has looked solid in his attempts in the preseason and in practice. He is going to help form a very solid 1-2 punch with Jeanty. He runs angry, and will be a great change of pace back. Depending on the matchup, there are weeks where he may out carry Jeanty. He is going either very late or undrafted in most leagues, grab him for his high upside. Originally, Pacheco was my one and only late round league winner. He is currently the 96th rank running back sandwiched between Tyjae Spears and Tyler Allgeier. Going in the 13+ round in standard 12-team PPR leagues, and 16+ round in ten-team PPR leagues. He is looking to fill the role that David Montgomery filled in the Lions offense. Pacheco meshes extremely well with Gibbs and will get enough volume to make a huge impact in fantasy. The biggest question mark is if he can stay healthy enough to be out there for the full season. If he is, count him as the steal of the draft.
